Free Smoke Detector programMonday December 11, 2017 the Rotary Club of Chicopee joined the Chicopee Fire Department for the relaunch of their free Smoke Alarm Program. Complete Restoration Solutions which is helping with the installation of the alarms, was also there to promote the program. The Chicopee Rotary, in tandem with the Polish National Credit Union, is donating $5000 for over 200 smoke alarms to the Chicopee Fire Department’s Fire Alarm Program. With home fires increasing during the winter months, Chicopee Fire Chief Dean F. Desmarais was anxious to kick off the program. The program allows fire detector inspections and installation, for qualifying residents of sixty years of age or older, who own their home in the city and request the service. Home fires cause more deaths each year than any other disaster and affect more people than floods, tornados, and hurricanes combined. This program aims to reduce deaths and injuries from home fires. The members of the Rotary Club of Chicopee strive to reflect the Rotary’s mission of “Service Above Self” by demonstrating their strong commitment to improve the lives of others within our community. |
